VoIPover3G Update

It would be nice if VoIPover3G worked with iCall. Or at least another mod like it that would work for iCall.

For all that don't know, iCall (free - App Store - only on 2.2.1) allows FREE calls over Wi-Fi and uses your number to call people, so they know that it's you calling, unlike Skype.

Yes, it REALLY needs to support iCall. And whoever made VoIPover3G, needs to begin to port this to iPhone OS 3.0, beta 5 is out now, so try to get it ported to 3.0 and make it support iCall.

I barely get to use iCall because I have a home phone to use at home, the only time I have Wi-Fi.

You can update voipover3g yourself by SSHing to the .plist and editing it.

Now slingplayer is out I would love voipover3g to work with 3.0 but I guess it's not worth updating till the public release of 3.0

The problem is I don't know how to SSH and I'm not really interested in learning. :/ But I might have to since I can't find Tricker ThreeG in Cydia.

VoiPOver3G uses mobilesubstrate to work. Mobilesubsrate is the part that does not work yet on 3.0...

AND ive just downgraded to 2.2.1 to use voipover3G.

"Optimizing" constantly and far far far from watchable.

Don't downgrade. For the moment - don't buy the stupid app if it has no 3G functionality.

i tried downgrading to 2.2.1 twice, and both times 3G didn't work. I coudln't even get my phone activated unless i shut off 3G. So it's pointless for me either way. I'll just wait until Beta 6 comes out and mobilesubstrate is fixed.

Follow this guide to the tee. Windows only but this definetly works to get back to 2.2.1. It was done with the stock 2.2.1 firmware and quickpwn 2.2.5-2.

on a Windows Computer

1) open itunes
2) get iphone in DFU mode
3) select restore iphone (using the original 2.2.1 firmware, not a custom one)
4) let iphone do the restart process until you get ERROR 1013 (or any error - just ignore it and continue)
5) CLOSE itunes
6) open quickpwn. you will get a message saying to hold power and home for 15 seconds. do it exactly like that hold the power and home for 15 secs.
7) turn on iphone by holding power button for 2 more seconds
8) open itunes and BINGO iphone is recognize and activated
9) you can now use Quickpwn to jailbreak if you wish

Yeah. My dad used it when he went on his trip to Mexico. The hotel had wifi, so this was perfect. I found out about iCall right before he went, so he was able to get it in time.

He was about to use Yahoo Voice or whatever it's called. It's cheap, but irregardless, there's still a fee and it calls from a weird number. iCall uses your number, so if my dad would have tried to call someone like me (who doesn't answer a number I don't recognize) they wouldn't have picked up.

iCall FTW. We just need a VoIPover3G or Tricker ThreeG update to get it working over 3G!

Yeah, I agree. iCall needs to be able to work over 3G...and MAYBE, just MAYBE over EDGE too. But definitely 3G, I have 3G everywhere I go, and I can afford ten dollars a month, so I want to use this over 3G. And whoever made VoIPover3G needs to start porting it to 3.0, so when it's publicly released, no one has to wait.
