Video Camera
Is it known if the camera will be able to shoot video at all? Or is it not possible

its definately possible, there is no difference between a video camera and regular camera on a phone, just software that allows it to record. Not sure why apple didn't offer it to begin with, but its hard to see inside the mind of Stevo

judging from its refresh performance in photo mode, it would be the blurriest video camera ever.

I've seen a video recorded off an iPhone, but it was like 2 fps.... maybe if we could force a reduction in quality, we could increase the refresh rate... its a good idea.

I had one of the first razers (yes yes I know) and it wasnt able to record video in the beginning. You had to do some SEEM editing and bang,t here it was. And then about 6 months later they were selling it with the video enabled.
I have no idea what it takes to enable it on the iphone but its the one and only feature that bums me out this phone doesnt have.
And a FPS of 2? aye! To look even 1/2 way decent its going to have to be 15+

thats common in a photo mode on many camera on phones, such as my HTC 8125,
Its where it is adjusting for optimal settings for photo (higher ISO, etc),
A video mode would work much differently but produce a lower resolution capture with more grain
point is
if apple adds a video recording mode, the videos would be on the same level as what you see on every other camera phone, lower resolution, lower fps, high grain - fitting for youtube, but not for apple, a company of high standards of design and multimedia. Lets see Steve Jobs on a stage, showing how you can edit your low resolution iPhone videos (which he would have to put up on the huge screen) on the new iLife making HD movies with old school technology.
If apple adds the functionality, they wont be highlighting it in any keynote, training video, or front page, it will be a small bullet on their features page.Last edited by GLOD!; 09-19-2007 at 12:49 AM.
Dear iPhone 3.0.
Please keep me from buying a Palm Pre.
Thanks,

I always love when people tell you how steve jobs and apple thinks and does things when in realty they have no clue.

If some software tweeking is all it takes, i'm sure we will see it available in an update some time in the future.

Soon enough.
I can live without it, but all those moments uncaptured! its just a waste...
Plus, apple should make a Mobile Front Row to substitute the photo gallery, ipod and video player, and allow for other media to be played, maybe even audio recordings..
Apple is gonna take they're sweet *** to update this.
Especially now when apple wants a huge gap between updates to patch up hacked jailbreak/unlock methods..
