Digital scale app??
was thinking it would be handy to have an app that turned the touch screen into a set of digital scales, accurate to 0.00g
could this be done? is the screen sensitive enough?
has it already been done? if so where can i find it?

Might work but how would you balance it?
You would need to have the unit balanced dead center.
I dont think it would work if just relying on the touch screen.
It would need to be off the ground on a little tripod or something. My signiture? Whats that...............

Seriously guys, as legal or illegal the circumstances of this app would be,
It's IMPOSSIBLE.
The screen is NOT pressure sensitive. It's a capacitive touchscreen panel.
you can try this yourself, you actually don't have to touch the screen to 'click' something. The screen just has to sense the electromagnetic presence of your finger. that's why gloves or a stylus don't work.

I dont know what phone you have but the Iphone/Ipod is NOT sensitive to electricity. If you want to see for yourself then you should take a 9v battery and touch the screen with it. (I have a first gen phone.) As far as I know it is TOUCH AND HEAT SENSITIVE. That is why you have to either balance the Iphone/Ipod perfectly or you have to put your THUMB (HEAT AND PRESSURE) on the screen and put whatever you want to weigh on your THUMB. There is a way you can measure weight with the Iphone/Ipod if you use the one made for your thumb. Just heat up whatever you want to weight to body temp and presto you have a scale. I dont know how accurate it is but you can see for yourself. I do it with my Iphone all the time.

It's a Capacitive screen.. In the time it took you to write your completely wrong response you could have googled and found something like this...
"In the capacitive system, a layer that stores electrical charge is placed on the glass panel of the monitor. When a user touches the monitor with his or her finger, some of the charge is transferred to the user, so the charge on the capacitive layer decreases. This decrease is measured in circuits located at each corner of the monitor. The computer calculates, from the relative differences in charge at each corner, exactly where the touch event took place and then relays that information to the touch-screen driver software. One advantage that the capacitive system has over the resistive system is that it transmits almost 90 percent of the light from the monitor, whereas the resistive system only transmits about 75 percent. This gives the capacitive system a much clearer picture than the resistive system."
