Digital scale app??

was thinking it would be handy to have an app that turned the touch screen into a set of digital scales, accurate to 0.00g

could this be done? is the screen sensitive enough?

has it already been done? if so where can i find it?

Now lets see......... what do you need to measure in grams and have a portable scale? Surely nothing that's illegal correct?

Might work but how would you balance it?
You would need to have the unit balanced dead center.
I dont think it would work if just relying on the touch screen.
It would need to be off the ground on a little tripod or something.

The screen is NOT pressure sensitive. It's a capacitive touchscreen panel.
you can try this yourself, you actually don't have to touch the screen to 'click' something. The screen just has to sense the electromagnetic presence of your finger. that's why gloves or a stylus don't work.

I dont know what phone you have but the Iphone/Ipod is NOT sensitive to electricity. If you want to see for yourself then you should take a 9v battery and touch the screen with it. (I have a first gen phone.) As far as I know it is TOUCH AND HEAT SENSITIVE. That is why you have to either balance the Iphone/Ipod perfectly or you have to put your THUMB (HEAT AND PRESSURE) on the screen and put whatever you want to weigh on your THUMB. There is a way you can measure weight with the Iphone/Ipod if you use the one made for your thumb. Just heat up whatever you want to weight to body temp and presto you have a scale. I dont know how accurate it is but you can see for yourself. I do it with my Iphone all the time.

It's a Capacitive screen.. In the time it took you to write your completely wrong response you could have googled and found something like this...
