Considering you actually read that thread you would know there is NO WAY a developer will make this program. That would mean that Blackberry would have to assign iPhones a blackberry PIN. BBM goes through the blackberry infrastructure so there is no way to bypass that.

BBM on iPhone finally here
There is a workaround that you can do to communicate over BBM using your iPhone. You do need to leave a functioning Blackberry at home though. However, this solves the problem a lot of people have been posing.
Here's a video demo:

me and some friends in my IT program will hopefully be starting working on a port of BBConnect in the summer. hopefully, assuming everything goes as planned we will contact RIM and Apple and get their approval for properly developing an offical BBConnect iPhone App. if apple says no, itll just have to be made available via Cydia Store hehe

i'll upddate the thread when we recieve more info/the go ahead.
hopefully it'll be a good seller and we can make some $$$

Personally I think this is a stupid topic. RIM would not make a BBM for the iPhone simply because it is half the reason why people purchse a Blackberry. If RIM develops an app for the iPhone, they can also wave goodbye to half their customers. All their non-business customers would no longer have an excuse to purchase a Blackberry.
On the other hand, regarding console gaming, would Microsoft create their trademark game, "Halo", for their rival, Sony's Playstation? The answer is no.
RIM will not develop this app for the iPhone however that may not stop others from developing this app. Best of luck to those who are planning to develop or even developing this app.

well... RIM certainly wont develop an BBM app and doing so would be stupid on their part but thats were the jailbreak community comes in.
personally, i gave up hope for BBM on the iPhone and hope for iChat or similar in 4.0

The technology already exists. It's called using your phone and calling them up or text messages.

Why not get PingChat 2 for the iphone? Theres an app for android and blackberrys too. So it's better than BBM as it goes to the iphone, android and blackberry!
...and it's free!!
