iCal with multiple calendars or categories?

The Calendar app that comes with the iPhone does 99% of what I need. I only ask for one more thing...

The ability to have seperate multiple calendars, or a single calendar that has categories so I can filter out my views.

Basically, I want to have one caledar for my work schedule, another calendar for family events and another calendar for dates and appointments.

Can anyone do this?

The Calendar app that comes with iPhone 2.x supports just that...
