Categories App Issues: Wierd Behavior
I searched around but this is the only and closest reference I found which remains unanswered.iPhone categories app big problem
iPhone categories app big problem
to Install more than 9 lines of app we use categories but after installing categories and more than 150 or 180 appsif u try resetting the iPhone and if u reset it all items in folders created by categories will be duplicated to spring board and many apps extendind 9 pages will disappear. I had to restore my phone again. Never reset ur phone after installing apps more than 9 pages.. Any help on this problem
For some reason while doing some organization of Icons into my Categories every now and then the app freezes the iPhone.
This eventually leads to restart or me having to restart (pressing both buttons).
Now, this was irritating but acceptable to some extent.
The last time this happened the following thing happened:
- Categories App Icon disappeared from main SB. The only way to run is to enable it via the SB Dock & Toggle app and run it from there. One run of it I wasnt able to add icons to Categories anymore.
- A bunch of Apps inside Categories spilled out into 9 pages of icons. They still exist inside the Categories Folders as well.
- A bunch of Icons inside Categories have wierd icons with a "?" Question Mark only
Someone more knowledgeable, kindly advise whats going on.
PS: Another Q: Is it possible to restore the PHONE back to the exact state as it was BEFORE this whole Categories Icons Overflow into SB happened. (I have 9 pages of them right now). I hate it.Last edited by crashnburn_in; 01-05-2009 at 11:25 AM.

You described one problem I had with Categories ... but mine happened after a restore. There was a fix .... I think my solution was to remove the app from categories. Oh course I thought I would now have two of the same name, but after a respring, there was only 1 copy. Maybe I also had to delete it and reinstall. Don't remember exactly now. Bottom line, I liked the concept, but getting everything back after a restore was a bit tricky, so I'm living with 9 springboard pages (haha)

So, I figured out a tedious way to fix part of this.
Basically, what I realized is the Categories app holds the icons in the right folders without issue.
What happens is all the apps get UNHIDDEN by Spring framework somehow if / when there is a Crash / Freeze / Sync issue.
The FIX was basically going into SBSettings > More and POOF HIDE all the Icons that had been added to some or the other category. i.e. MOST OF THEM.
Now, this worked upto a certain point but now the issue I am facing is that HIDE/ POOF App FREEZES by the time I reach the bottom of the LIST of APP ICONS that I want to HIDE.
So, I need one of 2 things or both if possible.
- Be able to scroll down to the bottom of the list without the App freezing
OR
- Location and knowledge of the FILE / CONFIG location where all the HIDES for the App Icons are located. If there is a place where this is stored, I'd like to be able to use iPhone Browser or something to access it. OPEN IT and edit the FLAGs for the ones I want to hide.
