Barcode Scanning a la G1
I did a search to see if anyone was working in this but I just used my co-workers G1 and although I was not super impressed with the phone, that actual application I see as something that would rock. Think about it, goto a store, scan a LCD, find the internet price (usually lower than the store) and negotiate from there with the sales person. Very useful and simple. Tried it with a can of Mountain Dew and it actually came back with results.
That is a cool app, if I had time (or deep knowledge) to develop, I would build this.
Anyway, hope someone is.
As always, site rock!

The iPhone does not have infared so this is not a possibility.

I guess it can be done for the iPhone since they are the same OS basically.

I think there are a couple of appstore apps that do this. One's called checkout smartshopper.

The iPhone's camera does not have a high enough resolution to accurately capture a typical UPC barcode (what's scanned in the grocery store checkout aisle).
