Camera Recognition?
I'm not sure what it's called exactly, but is it possible for the iPhone's camera to recognize things like bar codes, like the G1's camera?

I think it's software wise, So depending on your carrier, They might release something along the lines of that for the iPhone.
It's pretty new here in Australia too.

There's an AppStore app that recognizes barcodes. I forgot what it's called though.

There are two appstore apps (both are free). One is called "Barcode" and the other is "Barcodes"... not sure what EXACTLY the G1 app does but these claim to read the code and then take you to product websites and the like. I will add that I don;t think either does UPCs (yet).
By the way I opened appstore and typed "barcode
and hit search.

Ah, sweet, I wonder if someone will ever use em for something other than business? lol, call me childish, but I think it'd be fun for some company to use barcode recognition in a viral campaign or something..
