The qwerty pad is simply not great for one handed use. This should be possible since competitors are using the flexibility of the touch screen to make either text entry style selectable and have made all text entry possible with just the number pad on old models. It would seem to be an important feature to sell into a larger market of users, especially outside the US.
    Thanks!

I'm hating not having T9 texting with alpha-numeric keypad as an option on my iphone G3. I just got my first iphone today and i'm so disappointed by this. Seriously, it makes me want to return my iphone despite all of it's other perks. It seems like there are messages on forums dating back to the 1st iphone's release that are begging for t9 capability and yet still no resolution Does anyone know why nothing has been developed or if there's any real solution in the works?

Check out Shapewriter (app store). I think you can only use it for email, but it's cool nonetheless.
