Can the iPhone remote control my Home Theater?
I think it would be wonderful if my iPhone could serve as the remote for my Home Theater system.
If the iPhone can remotely control my iTunes on my MacBook Pro why can't it control my A/V system?
My A/V Receiver is a Yamaha RX-V757 (RAV272) remote part no WE458300
I have a Time Warner HD DVR cable box
and my TV is a Samsung 43" DLP Samsung HLN437W

Yes it can. That's what I do.
Check out Intelliremote in the appstore. You'll find the link for the home page there and everything you'll need.

The intelliremote forum is the best place for support.

isn't that for a PC based home theater setup? I think he's trying to make the iPhone act as if it were similar to a logitech harmony remote...which from what i know Intelliremote cannot do.

I use it just for Home Theatre, not PC control.
The iPhone can then work better than a Harmony (which I also have) as Intelliremote can be programmed using AutoIt for more flexibility.
I control my A/V amp, 2 Satellite boxes, DVD player, lights and even my garage door from my iPhone via Intelliremote.
It does require an IR blaster connected to your PC though.

Which one?
Intellliremote, the Intelliremote app, or the recommended USB-UIRT blaster?
The Intelliremote forum has an iPhone specific section which is the best place for help. The developer is really good at responding and resolving issues (which are usually router/firewall related).

Thanks, Intelliremote seems like a cool app but I don't use a PC and so I don't think it will work for me.
Since the iPhone doesn't have infared I must assume what I'm trying to achieve isn't possible.

What about this. I have my tv connected to my 360 to play movies. Currently I use tversity but thinking of just using the so media center for easier access. Is there an app or a way to use this one to turn on and control it like you would using just the media center on the laptop directly? I can use my main remote for everything except my 360 and the wife puts that up in the entertainment center every morning when she cleans. Dame her. LOL. So would this work?
