"Touch to view text" less anoyying sms, email, and voicemail reminders.

I was wondering if by some sort of black magic that we could have Android style notifications for sms, email, and voicemail.

Say one gets a text message while playing a game. Instead of an annoying as all hell message feild popping up making him loose - a second status bar descends (much like the "Touch to return to call" button for phone calls), and quitely alerts the user to the incoming text. If you touch, it launches MobileSMS.app as per usual, if you ignore it (for the set interval you'd choose in Settings or something) then the notification folds back up into the status bar and you're still winning at Dactyl.

Same deal for email's, and voicemail. For text and voicemail I'd imagine the message would be "New Text: Sydney Pike, "I miss you.."

What does everyone think? Good idea? Feasable at all?

Keep these requests coming. My feeling is that if more and more people voice that they WANT features from Android, Apple will be more likely to change tings and make them better. iPhone's OS has come a long way since 1.0.1 but it has a long way to go. The most exciting thing about Android for me is that it will FORCE (hopefully) Apple to make changes or risk falling behind. Who knows maybe we will even get native MMS!
