Come on, Kate and Intelliscreen do it, why can't someone write a standalone program to get rid of it.

I have instelliscreen, and it causes more problems than it is worth. And I don't want to pay for Kate.

Under the passcode lock settings there's an option to take off the SMS preview. But im not sure if you mean on the lock screen, or while using the phone.
