Installer Apps as .ipa's?
I heard that if u install an app store application and you update to another firmware, you keep the application.
However, any application installed from Installer would be deleted.
This bugs me a lot. Would it be possible to package an application from Installer (Application.app) as an ipa that we can sync with itunes and therefore will not be deleted after an update?
Just an idea i had.Last edited by crunchyboy05; 08-18-2008 at 02:56 PM.

there is one big problem with that.
app store apps run in a virtual world, the sandbox. Installer/Cydia apps run in the real world, no sandbox limits.
if you took an Installer app added the .ipa structure, and installed it as if it was a store bought app, it would not run.
we need a different mechanism for keeping Cydia/Installer apps between installs. something better than paper notes or worse yet trying to remember!http://jpassoc.com/x -- with free itunes under the puppy!
