iPhone is pretty fantastic in many ways.
Ability to read and write chinese sms is also a major plus for me (outstation in China) but ... ... ...

not able to read chinese email is a major headache for me...
I have to carry a HTC Kaiser just for my emails which is a pain ...

it is really sad that iPhone email client only support UTF 8 and not GB.
Can any experts around here port the GB decoding framework from Mac OS to iphone?

it would really be a hugh improvement and a big present to all chinese folks on iPhone.

btw: MSN client supporting chinese will be just as great. Web interface just doesn't seems the right way / less secure imho

Probably the reason they don;t support if yet is because its's not even available in Asian countries. It will probably be a firmware addition if/when the phone is realeased where you are. I know this isn't much consolement, but hey, I tried.

i did a lot of reading on the topic. so from most of the forums, the folks are saying that mac os is able to decode gb so there might be a possibility to port this capability to iphone.

but it might not be the way... lets hope apple will release some patch or upgrade for this
