Is there an MSN Messenger application that I can download from Cydia? I have a jailbroken iPhone 3G

Not from Cydia yet. But look up Palringo from the app store. Its free.

you just have to create a palringo account then you can add all your IM accounts to it.
(google talk, MSN Messenger, AIM)

I have tried Palringo, personally I will use the web interface, meebo first. I would ike a MSN client that does not disconnect when it is not the focus. I do not know if it is possible, but it would be nice.

AgileMessenger sounds like exactly what you need. Shame its only on 1.4's installer ^_^

there BeejiveIM, works in the background as well, but its not free. Look for it in the Appstore

Use palringo with the backgrouder app on cydia..
