Accelerometer powered tracking system
How about an app that uses the accelerometer's data to track route. In short does the work of a GPS.
If the phone accelerates along x, y or z axis;
Increase speed of changing direction, increase velocity or increase altitude.
If the phone does not accelerate along x, y or z(considering gravity);
Keep changing direction, stay constant on velocity or increase gravity at same speed.
If the phone decelerates ...
I know it's possible. But since I'm not familiar with iPhone Development, someone can work on this.
It'll be really useful. For eg. inside a building where GPS won't work.
The only problem (if it exists) is the accelerometer's accuracy.
But i've read that it is really sensitive.
And it also depends on the minimum and maximum acceleration that can be measured.

Not only would this be extremely complicated it takes a lot of things for granted. Like how would the phone know its start point?

It's not for compete navigation as such.
I'll just start a new track. Go hiking somewhere. Then upload the track to my google maps. I can worry about the coordinates then by rotating & moving the track.
Or maybe set the initial & current direction then start tracking.
