another text editor

yes, there are but they are very limited.
I need arrow keys for one thing. and I need the keyboard to stay up when I tap to move the cursor. I need a way to take some of my work with me.

no.

I have a perfectly usable computer already (ipod T) it just needs more office type software. sure I like to use it for fun. but 16 gig is big enough for all the wifi and games and whatever as well as the office tools that will allow me to take my work with me so I can make more money so I can get more gadgets to fiddle with.

Are you looking for a text editor or a .doc editor? If you install Terminal.app there is a perfectly functional text editor (pico) that comes installed with BSD.
