Set Permissions on-the-go?
is there an app were i can set permissions without using a computer?
I know squid can do that, but it is hard to change permission for every single file..and even more difficult to do that when you have big fingers o.O
So...cna i set permissions for several files at one time easier than with squid?

lets say you want to change the permissions of application appX.
you do:
cd /Applications
chmod -R 755 ./appX

If you want to set permissions through GUI, install MobileFinder.
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

Also, you shouldn't need to change a lot of permissions. In general, if you copy an .app manually to the phone, the only permission that needs changing is for the actual app file itself (normally appname for appname.app but not in every case).
Also a few programs, like Customize, have helper applications that also need permission changes.

I have no router. i don't always have the opportunity to use an ftp client, except when i go to a library or so.
I have the iPod Touch...i just wanted to install mail.app,weather.app, and so on...
and weather.app has a lot of files o.O..that was a lot of work with squid ^^
It doesn't look like i can set permissions with MobileFinder...the permission settings look right in mobilefinder..but the apps don't work..in squid the permissions are different..so i cann set it to 755...by the way..what means "GUI"?

GUI means Graphic User Interface, like instead of command line, something that you can interact with.
With finder, just open the app's folder, (you need to disable application launch in settings) and find the name of the app. Then make sure execute is selected and you're good to go!Thanks,
Matt

Guys, I'm having similar issues, after updating to 1.1.3, I can't change permissions with squid or mobile finder?
I can see where to do it, and when I try and go back it's the same, seems like I don't have the access to change it?

Visions, what version firmware do you have that you are ablke to use it with squid?
I have 1.1.3 firmware and Squid version 0.2.2. and I can open the files and select the litle boxes to edit the permissions, but after I save and go back in the settings haven't changed.
It seems like Eurisko may be right, how do we get mobile finder or squid to work as a root and not mobile user?

mobilefinder
So what is the solution for mobilefinder use on 113?
How can I change the permissions so mobilefinder has the privilege to manipulate files?

I did the fix outlined here and it works with a minor glitch. When you open Finder, first go to settings and make sure you turn on show hidden files and system file access and turn off Application launch. then highlight the file you want to change and press modify. The changes will stick but you will have to re-enter the settings every time you re-launch Finder.
