    Default satellite Iphone

Im going out in left field here but entertain the thought for a sec....

Can you modify the iPhone, hardware, software, apps, etc and make the iPhone capable of takine a satellite sim card like iridium or garmin for when you are far far away from coverage.

coverage is not a problem for most people but people in the military or people at sea would gratly benefit if they can use a satellite sim.

An antenna would be preferred for the best results an that would be easy to manipulate but what about the iPhone itself?

I was just wondering if the "seemingly impossible" could be done..

Defiantly not. The iPhone has a GSM baseband and all satellite systems use TDMA or FDMA. Not to mention the antenna doesn't operate at the correct frequency. Its like trying to put a sprint SIM card in an GSM phone. It just doesn't work sorry
