Hey guys! How about this: while locking app is activated, when you click on some app it asks you to enter the code, is you enter it the app launches, if not your app is safely protected.
Also some more questions & ideas about locking:
first of all: can it be made somehow that system locking works only on boot? I hate to enter the code evry time I wake my iPhone.
And can the passcode be replaced with a fingerprint scaner. Like instead of presing numbers you just put your finger & it recognizes the finger print. Of course in case of problem there will be a button that will lead ya to old fasioned keypad.

Nice app!
Some issues I observed with my unlocked 1.1.1 iPhone:
-When activated/launched and only the Phone app shows, it changes the original settings (Brightness, Auto-Lock, Passcode Lock). If you change these settings, they hold only while Padlock is active but if you deactivate it then return to Padlock, the settings are lost again.
-It activates alarms in the Clock app.
Thanks!

Hi All,
I have modified "Hide.app" to become more universal.
What i have changed was the script inside to become more universal and take out the commands for removing sms and address books since i don't mind people look thru mine (smsd could always keep me clean
) . You can customize the "locked" home screen version to your liking.
Other than that, i changed the name to "Locksmith.app" so it will reduce curiosity when someone sees it
Install it like when you install Hide.app, but if you have run Hide.app before, make sure you run this in the 'non-locked' home screen ya because at the first time run, it will copy your Springboard's plist file and the Mxxx.plist thingy file as a set of "unlocked" version file.
After that, now, it will restart Springboard and put you (virtually) in a "locked" version, well... you won't see the difference until you hide apps (via Customize) or change General settings. Set some settings and hide some apps, then when you ready, click the "Locksmith" again. It will then save your current Springboard and Mxxxx thingy as the "Locked" version file, then return back the "unlocked" version to the current. It will again restart Springboard then Voila! you're back in "unlocked" version home screen again.
So basically what the application will do is to rotate between locked and unlocked version of home screen. You can freely manage different settings and set of hidden/unhidden apps at your liking in a two different home screen.
In my phone, i put passcode on my unlocked setting, and take out the passcode in the locked version, so whenever someone accidentally "unlocked" my phone it will ask for passcode.
Hope this usable for you guys who wanted to get a clean look for normal use and.. when needed, have the option to display all of the apps you have without having to go to Customize to reveal one by one...or also to hide ur iComic-based porn or SwapTunes too from accidental clicking
All credits should go to mkurasz as the original creator of the application. What i did was only rewrite the script inside it to fit my use
cheers,
ps: can someone point me to right direction/thread on how to use blank spaces.app with Customize 1.20+FW 1.1.2 ?

Thats because mkurasz put his own Springboard settings and icons order inside the Hide.app as the locked version for the home screen.
That is why i refine the script to allow us to use it to our own liking of locked version of home screen.
By the way, maybe it is not advised to use this app if you have Summerboard installed or any launchers that depends on your Springboards settings or the Mxxxx.plist file. I don't know what's the effect...Last edited by asae; 12-21-2007 at 09:04 AM.

Hi amf,
Your old issue should not exist anymore because it will save your current one as the base of unlocked version while then re-use the copy of your current one as base of the locked version instead of replacing it with the one embedded it the Hide.app.

Tried it and it works!
I hope you can put some sort of an indicator so that we can identify if Locksmith is activated or not. A lock icon maybe to indicate it is locked.
Thanks!!!
My bad: The app icon changes to show what state (locked/unlocked) it is currently in. Thanks again!Last edited by amf; 12-21-2007 at 10:33 AM.

Yup agree with you, currently the indicator only on the app icon itself, when its in 'locked mode' then the app icon shows an unlocked sign -- mean that: hi, klik here to unlock... in reverse, when its in 'unlocked mode' the app icons shows a locked sign -- mean that: hi, klik here to lock..
However this will not show if we hide locksmith.app
maybe if we can combine with mail notification app to show the small icon indicator on the top bar of screen would be nice.
Unfortunately, me only know unix shell scripting and not familiar in native iphone app coding, so....open for others to contribute the help

Can someone put this on the installer?
Also, if I uninstall it, will it turn everything back to normal?
Thanks in advance,

You will be left at the state at the time you uninstalled it. So make sure you are in the 'unlocked' mode when you uninstall the app.

I have updated the version a bit, so different homescreen are able to have different lock wallpaper. So you can have picture of your love one in the 'locked' homescreen, and picture of your ANOTHER loved one in the 'unlocked' screen...hehehe just joking
at least it serves as indicator for you to know whether you are in a lock or unlocked version of settings by just looking at the wallpaper.
Two ways to update it if you have the old one already:
1. Just replace the Locksmith.app with the new one, make sure you are in the 'unlocked' version of homescreen first, mmmhhh....unfortunately you will loose what you have set in the 'locked' homescreen so you have to redo the setting and hidings....sorry for that...
OR
2. Just extract the hide.sh from the new one and replace the old one on your phone (only hide.sh), that way, you won't loose anything.Last edited by asae; 12-24-2007 at 05:00 AM.

Thank you asae! Much better version, the old version I had to think reverse.
Is there a way to have the lock indicator where the battery status is located after you type in the passcode. (at the Passcode screen, you get the lock indicator icon)?
By the way, what happened to mkurasz (original dev)?

If at the passcode screen/battery status screen is what u want, actually you can.
Just set the wallpaper attached as your wallpaper screen. one for 'locked' setting, one for 'unlocked' setting. These pictures were taken from the original pioneer app (hide.app).
mkurasz?...last time he posted that he got flu, hope he's ok now and happy to see that his creation has evolves

thank very much for your help brother.but is it necessary to use winscp to transfer the
locksmith.app folder to my iphone? I have managed to tansfer the same with ibricker to the
prescribed folder but when i try to launch the program, "system unlocked" image will open
for a short while and it just returns to the springboard again.Nothing is happening and
also i did not find any customize or general settings option for the program.hope you will be
kind enough to look into my problem for once again.
thanking you
