I dont know if this is a topic that has been discussed before, and if it has just give a link for it, but when I installed customize 1.1.7 on a 1.1.2 jailbroken phone, it automatically added "demo app" and "field zone" or something like that. I used iPhoneList to deleted both of those, but now it has the "contacts" on the springboard and I cannot figure out how to delete it, or which file in iPhoneList to delete to get it off my springboard.
Any help is much appreciated.

Both Demo.app and FieldTest.app come with the iPhone. They are usually hidden, but Customize can be used to bring them out of hiding. FieldTest especially can be useful. You should have kept them.
Contacts is also a welcome addition to most people, but if you don't want it on your Springboard, drag it down to the Hidden list.Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

If I wanted to put them all back on, and put them to hidden, do I use iPhoneList to do it, or customize or what?
I was also wondering, what are they both good for? The only reason I dont want them on the springboard is cause Im kinda a neat freak and dont want it to be all clutered.

You use "Icon Display Order" inside Customize (1.17) or rBST (1.16 and under)Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

Ill try it right now and let you know.
What do you use Fieldtest.app and demo.app for?
11-14-2007, 06:22 PM #6
Never used Demo.app. FieldTest is used to testing the phone with your wireless carrier, tower signal strength, and other stuff you're not likely to use unless you're in the industry or follow the guides.Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

Hahaha thanks, one more quick question. I got customize with the icon display order, and I can drag the icons and move there order, but how do I hide them? I can only drag them.

I don't see Hidden anymore in Customize. Am I just overlooking something?

The hidden feature is not in customize 1.17, it hopefully will be put back in a future release. Best option to hide the icons you don't want is to install xlaunch, and use that to hide the apps with the toggle visability option.

There are several headings: Dock, Springboard, Springboard Extended and Hidden. If you move the icons under the Hidden heading, they won't show up on your springboard.Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

customize used to allow you to hide icons, but it was having stability issues so that functionality was removed
i would recommend xLaunch for 1.1.1 and up, it allows you to reorder, launch, and hide your applicationsI am the MacBook Pro

Aha!! So Im not so stupid. Haha I knew I knew what I was doing.
Yeah hopefully they put it back up soon.

Is there an easy way to revert to an older version of customize? I upgraded to 1.17 but now I've lost my 5 icons in the dock and the ability to reorder/hide
11-14-2007, 10:27 PM #18
Just uninstall it, and then install an older version manually.

I think this program is getting worse with every release.
Hiding apps is a vital function. My sounds don't work properly. It conflicts with Summerboard too often for my liking.
To boot, the updates take far too long to come out.
Fix this application already, spicy chicken. Please. Don't come out with a countdown application without taking care of the more important Customize.

Agreed. Do you think they thought over taking out the hidden list? I don't. It's not even logical.
