From what I've been reading recently, there is a list doc included on the Iphone that will make streaming radio possible without additional hardware.

So a hardware mod IS needed for this thread's request.

Actually, I don't think he ever mentioned how it should work...or whether it would be hardware or software. You're right about hardware and with the current state of technology streaming is the only way to tune in to AM/FM radio, and on decent WIFI connection it should be close to realtime.

I wasn't too impressed with the installer that just came out, I kept loosing connection even on my Fiberchannel. Although this one looks promising:
