you should combine forces with the guy making MixMeister Scratch. Pretty much the same thing.-----------------------------------------------------------

Yes MixMeister Scratch is also like this app but it isn't a controller.
The thing is.. i am not a developer, i'm just somebody who would LOVE this app.
So i need someone who will develop this.
I will help him as much as i can
P.S.: Also we need to think of a way to "connect" VirtualDJ and the iPhone.

What do you mean connect?
04-19-2008, 09:33 AM #8
iDJ needs to interact with VirtualDJ;
When i scratch on my iphone it needs to scratch on VirtualDJ
When i click play it needs to play on VirtualDJ
This is not meant to be native app which only plays music on my iphone but it needs to "connect" to VirtualDJ and then change things there.
Making it a native app would be also cool but that wasnt my first idee.

sounds interesting. I like the way that sounds. But I wish I could develop cause this sounds like a great app. Hopefully someone comes up and develope this.

I think you got the definition of native app mixed up. A native app is an app that is ran from the phone, not the web.
There are several ways that you can hook up virtual DJ via plugins. Im more of a serato man myself, but, i would be cool to floss with. DJ a whole set from an iphone? Naw, I dont see it as feasible for me because of the number of phone calls and text messages I get every day, but it might be the truth for someone else

**** yea i want this!!! I would pay someone alot to make this app. Some time i wish i could port.
I made a sceen shot of what it could look like:

some of those buttons are way too small.
also, why does it need to connect to virtual dj? Why can you just output straight from the iphone. Why add extra intermediaries? 16GB is plenty of space to hold all the songs you need for a set.

the iPhone needs to connect to VirtualDJ because you won't dj a whole night with only your iPhone, if you have the iPhone as a controller you can setup songs in VirtualDJ (or maybe on your iPhone) and then mix them with your iPhone and VirtualDJ.
VirtualDJ is a way more complicated program then we can make on the iPhone.
So i think we can better make a controller then a "not-controller, just playing on your iPhone"-app.
@Burr: i think this would be WAY to much controls, and to small buttons. You can leave 75% of the buttons on VirtualDJ and then control the "standard"-buttons on your iPhone.

Forget me saying that WiFi is to slow...
I think we can do something with Aka.Remote
Which you can download here.
It uses Max/MSP which you can trail-download here.(windows)(mac here)
You must follow the instructions and then you can control "buttons" on your pc. If you can assign key's to those buttons.(if press button 1 do F4) then you can set these key's in VirtualDJ.
(Does somebody now how to do this?)
And maybe we can edit the program aka.remote (if this is possible/legal) and then we can make a deck on it an some other VirtualDJ controls.
I think this is the easiest way.
Can somebody do this??

To bad nobody answers my questions.....
If you want to control the samples in VirtualDJ you can use Touchpad Pro with the Media Server extension. Then you can click on Remote and scroll to the F1 - F12 screen.
If you press these keys you will here your samples.
This is not a DJ App!!! and we really need that:P
