    Default iPhone 3GS downgrade help!

    Hi,

I'm new to the whole iPhone scene as of yesterday so bare with me!

I was given an old iPhone 3GS yesterday. It came with 'FW 5.0 (9A334) 5.16.05'. I tried unlocking it with sn0wbreeze but was unsuccessful. After a little more searching I read that this firmware/baseband was unlockable, and that I should downgrade to 4.1 & install the iPad baseband 6.15.00. I flashed the old firmware on it to find myself stuck at the 'connect to itunes' screen with emergency calls only. I assumed this was normal and ran 'redsn0w(0.9.6rc18)', followed through the steps, selected install cydia & ipad baseband, it runs for a moment, says 'fetching ipad baseband', then closes the window. After this I was unable to boot the phone at all so I downloaded TinyUmbrella's 'fixrecovery' tool, which brought me back to the 'connect to itunes' screen.

If I run 'f0rcast' it tells me that the baseband is still 5.16.05, so I was obviously unsuccessful with redsn0w.

I have tried updating the firmware back to 5.0 but I get hit with an error and it wont let me.

Basically I just want the phone unlocked, whichever firmware its running on makes no difference to me personally.

As I'm new to the iPhone scene any help from some of you much more knowledgeable folk would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

Fixed thanks to i.Annie's post in another topic.

Do the restore to stock 4.1 again, get 1015, and use Exit Recovery.

Then run redsn0w to install Cydia only. When that's finished, open Redsn0w again and install the iPad baseband. Do not install both at the same time. You will get stuck.
    Cheers

Not sure if its the same for both phones but i would assume it is. Try running f0rcast, it will tell you.

Thanks for the post. Also work for my 3GS now running the firmware to 4.1 and iPad 06.15.00 baseband. Prior it was accidentally upgraded to 5.0.1 and 5.16.xx bb without success. After trying the TinyUmbrella and redsn0w method now my 3GS work just fine now with unlock signal.
