I have a iphone 3G i was given to me from a friend and asked if it can be jailbroken and unlocked i cant get it to even boot up I have no idea whaty firmware it is or whjat ios its on cdan someone help me thanks

When you connect it to the pc.... Leave it for several hours & then unplug & re-plug to see if when you hit the power button, if you hear a connection sound.

Put your iphone into normal dfu mode , restore to stock 4.1 ipsw. If error 1015 pops up, run tiny umbrella and apply exit recovery to kick it out. Activate it or jailbreak with redsnow 0.9.6b6
