Error 3194 (Windows) - Non Eligible FW Build (Mac) when using 4.2.1 CFW

Haven't done this in a while so I'm not sure what is going on.

Trying to help a friend upgrade his jailbroken, unlocked 3Gs (old boot) from 4.0 to 4.2.1

Steps taken:

Used latest Pwnagetool to create CFW (as I need to preserve the BB). Put 3Gs in DFU mode following PTool instruction.

Click Alt/Option + Restore ... goes on extracting the CFW, and Verifying FW with Apple ... gets ineligible FW on the Mac (Latest iTunes 10.2.1) and error 3194 using a Windows XP machine with iTunes 10.1

Am I missing a step here somewhere? I remembered trying to upgrade this particular 3Gs to the 4.1 and I think I got the same error as well.

Any help and suggestion would be much appreciated.

Nevermind. Managed to troubleshoot and find out what was wrong.

1. Apple is no longer signing 4.2.1 so that's the reason I'm getting 3194 errors or ineligible firmware. So solved that by running the latest Tiny Umbrella (version 4.30.xx). That got me past the Verifying with Apple Server nonsense.

Obviously since I had started the 3Gs from the DFU mode setup using PTool, I got the 1601 error, so I downloaded and installed iREB RC4 to get make sure I put the 3Gs back to PWN DFU mode.

Once that is done, all went well. Shift+Restore with the 4.2.1 custom firmware and all is well. That'll be a nice cup of Mochachino tomorrow from my friend.
