Default Updating 3gs 4.2.1(flashed ipad baseband) to 4.3

I am thinking of updating my 3gs 4.2.1 (flashed ipad baseband) to ios 4.3. But I believe, I won't be able to restore it with a stock ipsw. Is there any possible way to do this??

Also if i wanna know it is possible to downgrade to ios 4.2.1 after updating to 4.3??

You can only downgrade with SHSHs for the most part. 4.2.1 *seems* to still be signed so no SHSHs necessary but that may not be true soon.

You likely can't upgrade to stock 4.3 with your iPad bb. It'll get you stuck in recovery mode so it probably isn't a good idea to try seeing as how no jb is out for it yet.

I think theres an unofficial pwnagetool for 4.3 but I don't trust the unofficial tools. But you can try I guess. I just wouldn't recommend it.

Aight thanks. I guess I need to wait for an official jailbreak tool. Just wondering, is there any way to restore using a stock ipsw?

The only way you can ever restore to a stock firmware as of right now is if you have SHSHs to restore to below 4.2.1. For 4.2.1 and 4.3, you can't use stock firmwares.

    Default Baseband downgrade

That's incorrect. The baseband can NEVER be downgraded, only upgraded. You will have to find a custom firmware to update to 4.3 with the iPad baseband preserved.

What's incorrect? There wasn't a reference to downgrading a baseband, we are trying to downgrade the firmware.

Edit: I noticed I had a typo. I was referring to the firmware I will change that
