hello ,
i recently got a iphone and it is 3gs 32 gb,i unlocked it and was using it but unfortunately itunes updated it. Thats it now my iphone got struck in recovery mode, i tried to update it to 4.1 and higher it shows 1015 error and when i try to downgrade it to 4.0.1 and lower versions it shows me 3194 error. I googled a lot and tried many things but it doesn't help me.But when i upgraded it to 4.1 and used tinyumbrella to exit recovery mode i got stuck saying " please insert the sim" .Now i dont know what to do .please help me guys

Same thing happened to me.
This is what worked for me....
1.Restore to 3.1.2 from itune by pressing shift
2.when error 1015 appears// use tinyumbrella only to kick out from restore mode
3. Use any jailbreaking tool for 3.1.2 ( I used redsnow)
4. Enjoy your unlocked iphone

when i do that it doesnt give me 1015 error,but it gives me 3194 error(in recovery as well as dfu mode) i edited the host file even.

you dont have the shsh required to downgrade from the sound of it. create a custom 4.2.1 firmware with sn0wbreeze for windows or pwnage tool for mac then put it in dfu mode and shift+restore to the custom firmware

When you receive 1015 you need to exit recovery mode on 4.1 with tinyumbrella. On 4.2.1, greenpois0n must be run on it after 1015.

3194 is a lack of SHSHs saved so no restore.

1015, restore is successful, device is just stuck. You have updated you baseband so if you need to unlock, you are out of luck unless you go up to the iPad baseband which breaks GPS.

You have the please insert SIM because you are not unlocked (unless you're using official carrier which I'm guessing you're not).

You'll need to unlock to use your SIM. if you don't mind breaking GPS (Google Maps and Garmin will still work, just not tomtom or navigon) then update to the iPad bb with redsn0w on 4.2.1 and unlock with ultrasn0w in Cydia.

i have done the above mentioned way.I have customised 4.2.1 with snowbreeze (clicking "retain baseband" option).And restored iphone. After restoration has completed itunes displayed message"your iphone has restored to factory settings"and then iphone rebooted. And now my phone stuck saying "insert sim card".what shall i do now??

i have again done the customisation with simple mode option in snowbreeze and it worked, thanks a lot guys.
now can i downgrade it to 3.1.3. I heard that 4.xxxx are very bad.Is it true that they are bad??if so please help me to downgrade to 3.1.3

I have a problem, that is my iphone doesn't get charged when it is connected to my pc.it shows "charging cannot be done with this accesory". Earlier when my phone was totally dead it charged and got in to recovery mode. Can some body help me with this
