iPhone 3g stuck in Recovery Mode loop
Trying to downgrade 4.2.1 to 3.1.3. I've done this before, I've followed all the instructions (repeatedly!) but the phone always goes back to the picture of the usb needing to be plugged into iTunes. I do that and itunes says "Detected iPhone in Recovery mode...". So I start TinyUmbrella to Exit Recovery... and the whole thing loops back to where I started this post. I've tried different firmwares, even 4.2.1 (which is what I was trying to get away from), same thing.
Any suggstions?
iPhone 3g, Macbook, using mostly PwnageTool

You get the 1015 error when going back to 3.1.3 right?

And the exit recovery isn't working? Weird, it should kick you out of recovery to the emergency call screen. Have you tried recboot?

No I haven't tried recboot. I'll look into that now.
I have been sent to the emergency call screen. What should I have done when at that screen? Did I miss something?

If you are at the emergency call screen then you are good. Tiny umbrella did it's job. From there you need to either activate with a official carrier sim or use redsnow 0.9.4 to hactivate.

I don't have redsn0w 0.9.4, only the latest. I'll go get that as well.

Ya, you will need 0.9.4. A quick google should bring it up.
You will also need a copy of the 3.1.2 firmware for your device. Redsnow will only recognize that one but will jailbreak 3.1.3 fine too.Last edited by Simon; 02-28-2011 at 12:05 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Yay, I have a phone again! Thankyou. Now to go to 3.1.3 should I use Pwnage 3.1.3 or yet another redsn0w, or am I best to be thankful it's no longer a paperweight and stay where I am?
And in iTunes I have 5 backups that list dates only. How do I my apps back without upgrading to 4.2.1 all over again?Last edited by douglh; 02-28-2011 at 12:44 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

You're right. 3.1.3 it is.
