Default IPhone 3G baseband upgraded to 6.15 accidentally. Is my iPhone doomed to never be a pho

I really want to cry :'(. I took my iPhone 3G to a store today and asked for them to downgrade my firmware from 4.2.1 to 3.1.3 and unlock WITHOUT upgrading my baseband. Those people changed my baseband to 6.15 and couldn't even pull it out of recovery.

I took my baby home and managed to install and jailbreak 3.1.2 on it but the baseband is 6.15. Is it dead forever or is there hope that I can downgrade my baseband back to something I can unlock in my country (I live outside the USA)? If so, how and/or when? Please help guys! I am so sad :'(.

6.15 is the ipad baseband used to unlock. You will never be able to use a non-custom FW with it again, but you should be able to unlock. And if those people you paid didn't warn you, give them a piece of your mind, or make them pay for it.

Download f0recast to see what bootloader you have. It's a longshot but worth a try.

How do I use custom firmware to use it? I don't understand. The phone drains battery really fast now and GPS doesn't work and neither does phone. I don't want to upgrade to 4.2.1 again. It was horribly slow. Can I use custom fw for 3.1.2 to use it as a phone again with this baseband? Where do I get it and how do I install it?

Sorry about all the questions. I also read something that the Dev Team is coming out with a new downgrade.

You dont need custom firmware for 3.1.2 or 3.1.3. The only real drawback of the iPad baseband is the no gps thing. What did you jailbreak with?

I used redsn0w to do it. I can live without the GPS but I really want it to be a phone again. Atm it drains battery as though it is a portable toaster and doesn't seem to give me any options for unlock. Can I keep the current firmware and unlock still on the 6.15 bb?

You can install ultrasnow from cydia to unlock. As for your battery issues it is probably from hactivating with redsnow (if that's how you got past the emergency call screen). You can try SAM to fix that, not sure if it will work on 3.1.2 though.

I will try getting ultrasnow right now but from what I understood, I can't actually unlocked it now with the high baseband and 3.1.2 firmware. :S

You can unlock with baseband on 3.1.2. Shouldn't be a problem, I have done it.

OH MY GOD! IT WORKED!!! THANK YOU SO SO SO SO SO MUCH!!! Happiness aside though, how long will this joy last and will there be a way to reverse the upgrade next time? I have seen lots of posts about there being an upcoming fix. Btw, what was that app called for the battery fix? It has never gone down this fast before. :S

Update on the iPhone: Seems to be working again except SAM doesn't seem to be available for the 3.1.2 and overnight on standby the phone drained 25% of its battery . Not as bad as some of the horror stories i have heard but still terrible. Is there a way to fix this.

    Diego,

I don't know if this will help you Diego, but I used this tutorial for my downgrade:

How To Downgrade your iPhone 3G to iOS 3.1.3 | Mac|Life

Helped a lot. The link for RecBoot no longer works, but you can google it and find it in 2 seconds.
