Downgrade Jailbroken 3G 4.2.1 with Cydia aps to 3.1.3
I have been doing a lot of reading on how to downgrade a 3G with 4.2.1 to 3.1.3 but I have some questions:
#1 Since I jailbroke AFTER installing 4.2.1 if I downgrade will I loose my Cydia apps? I read somewhere that this can be a problem, what si the best link to downgrade if its already jailbroken.
#2 what are these references to SHSH changes? why do I need to do this?
I just want to know if once I downgrade if I will ahve issues with Cydia particularly miwi 4.0 (i do not want to purchase it again).
any links to read up on this would be helpful.
Thank you.Last edited by bertoro; 02-15-2011 at 02:02 PM.

To downgrade, you have to put your iphone into dfu mode and shift + restore to 3.1.3,use exit recovery from TU to kick error 1015.
Now you can jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.4 but browse to 3.1.2 ipsw
You don't have to pay again for MyWi from Cydia.

So If I understand correctly I should first restore to 3.1.3 and then jailbrake with redsnow using 3.1.2? Why should I not jailbrake 3.1.3?

No to use redsn0w you have to use a 3.1.2 firmware 3.1.3 won't work

So one more question...why would I not restore to 3.1.2? WHy do you have to restore to 3.1.3 before JB 3.1.2?

The jailbreak sees 3.1.3 as 3.1.2 there wasn't really a bug difference. That's the best way I can explain it

So Looks like I successfully restored 3.1.3 now I am about to jailbreak, when I do should I click that the phone was already pawned in redsn0w? Since it was already jailbroken with 4.2.1 I presume I have to click this? Also I have redsnow redsn0w_mac_0.9.6b5 that should work to jailbrake 3.1.2 right?
thank you!
