Jailbroke but cannot connect to T-mobile

First off this is a 3G iPhone. It's baseband is 5.15.04.

I used to jailbreak my friends iPhones all the time and had NO issues! I tried using GreenP0ison, which I used for my Verizon 4, and I can confirm it is in DFU mode with Redsn0w, but GreenP0ison will NOT recognize it being in DFU mode.

All I want to do is jailbreak my friends AT&T iPhone to work on T-mobile. I heard it cannot utilize a lot of features in iOS4 so can someone PLEASE help me choose an ispw and tell me how to downgrade the baseband, etc.


I want to say I have done searches, but IDK what to do first...a restore, downgrade basebands, where to find custom ispws, etc.


I'm not an idiot or a noob, but this one has REALLY spun me for a loop. Right now, he has a 3GB paperweight.

Finally, when we bought it, it showed it had 14GBs free roughly. After the restore, it is showing it has 6.7 stock. IDK if I did something wrong, or if I got ripped off and this is an 8GB, but at this point, I just want him to have a decent OS that will actually make and receive calls.


Again, sorry for being so clueless, but I have hacked phones for YEARS (iPhone, Android, Winmo, etc.)...this one is just killing me, and I CANNOT figure it out. Even after the yellowsn0w cydia install.... "Searching....searching.....searching...no service".

3G is the easiest phone to work with.
Download any custom firmware, you can google it you just type in iphone 3g custom (whatever version you want) and it'll list website with custom you can download.

I would like to point out that sometimes wiping the phone down fresh solves the problem.

Another thing I would like to point out is, you dont have to have iPhone on the 4.2.1 stock and use greenpois0n to jailbreak.

If you download custom 4.2.1 that's already prejailbroken meaning Cydia will be installed once you restore your iPhone in iTunes using custom firmware.

Your iPhone will not be unlocked on 5.14 baseband and it cant unless you update your baseband with redsn0w, i use redsn0w 0.9.6b6 to 6.15 iPad baseband.
Keep in mind in the future you will only be able to restore your iPhone to custom firmware you will get an error if you try to use the stock firmware using iTunes. here is few steps how to do things.

Search Google for Custom 4.2.1 Firmware and you need stock 4.2.1 firmware.
If you dont have redsn0w 0.9.6b6 download it(use google to find)
Open redsn0w select stock 4.2.1
Select option on the Next Window JUST PUT IN DFU PWN MODE, sometimes it works without DFU mode if your 3G has previously been jailbroken and you have your SHSH saved.
Follow instructions on the next screen how to put in in DFU mode.
If Successful you will see in redsn0w DONE button and message Successful.
Last step open iTunes, Hold shift select your custom firmware 4.2.1 and restore. Let it Finish.

Thanx for all the help so far. When I get into DFU and shift click to install the custom ispw it iTunes says it isn't compatible.

You must be in PWNDfu mode not normal dfu.

Thanks all. I messed with it for hours and finally just installed the iPad baseband w 4.2.1....working like a charm.
