help with unlocking 3G on 3.1.3 with 05.15.04

Hi,

I'm new to the board. I tried jailbreaking and unlocking my 3G. During a FW restore, itunes upgraded the firmware to 4.2.1. It looks like it also updated the BB to 05.15.04.

I've restored the FW to 3.1.3, but BB is still at 05.14.04 and from what I've read so far, an unlock is not available.

It is possible to downgrade the BB to 05.11.07? If not, is my only other option upgrading to 6.15.00?

I would prefer to downgrade the BB, but don't know how? Is this possible? If I upgrade to 6.15.00, will the phone work OK? I don't want to upgrade FW to 4.0 because from what I've read, the 3G cannot handle it very well.

Yes , the ipad bb can unlock with Ultrasn0w. Besides this 3g is becoming obselete, if your GPS doesn't work, you have nothing much to lose.

Thanks for the feedback. If I update the BB to 06.15.00, can I continue running 3.1.3 or must I upgrade to 4.X? I've read that 3G using iOS 4.X is not a good combination... phone becomes terribly slow.

Last question, will I need to create a custom IPSW?

If you want 3.1.3, just restore to stock 3.1.3 , error 1015 pops up. Use Exit recovery to kick it out from TU and jailbreak with redsn0w. Yes, ipad bb can be at fw 3.1.3

All you would do is upgrade to 4.2.1, jb and upgrade the baseband with redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 then downgrade back down to a stock 3.1.3 firmware. Then jailbreak it as normal back on 3.1.3.

How do I downgrade 4.2.1 back to 3.1? I have it jail broke now at a 5.15.04 bb

If it says it doesn't have any SHSHs saved for 3.1.x then you cannot downgrade unless it is an iPhone 3G. Then you can downgrade without SHSHs. If it isn't an iPhone 3G, you can't restore to anything that you don't have SHSHs for.

Ok it's a iPhone 3G if I down grade the ios from 4.2.1 back down to like 4.0 or 3.1, will my BB stay the same? It's on 5.14.04 any guides on doing such? Mainly all I'm trying to do is to unlock my phone with out going to iPad BB.

Downgrading isn't going to change the baseband. It's gonna stay at 5.15.xx. You have to go up to the iPad baseband if you want to unlock.

You can check your bootloader though. Some iPhone 3G had bootloader 5.8 and can downgrade the baseband with Fuzzyband from Cydia. Check your bootloader with iF0recast from ih8sn0w.com

If it is not 5.8, you cannot downgrade your baseband. So then you're back at upgrading it to the iPad one. If you don't want to, wait for a new unlock.

I also have a 3g currently running 3.1.3 and 05.15.04. It lost its jailbreak when I tried to upgrade to ios4. Now, I have brought it back to 3.1.3. i.Annie said "All you would do is upgrade to 4.2.1, jb and upgrade the baseband with redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 then downgrade back down to a stock 3.1.3 firmware. Then jailbreak it as normal back on 3.1.3." Though this would leave me at 3.1.3, I would still be at bb 05.15.04 (unless I upgrade to iPad bb), which I cannot jailbreak. Would I need to upgrade to iPad bb?

If I am lucky enough to have the bootloader 5.8, I can get Fuzzyband from Cydia after jailbreaking in 4.2.1. At that point, can I downgrade back from 05.15.04 and then restore to 3.1.3???

I have a 3G FW 3.1.2 BB 5.12. lastnight i tried to upgrade FW to 4.2.1 and use a custom 4.2.1 restore. Shift+ restore point to custom FW 4.2.1 then hit restore (but) somehow my 3G baseband got upgraded to 5.15.04 ?
My question is : do i have to keep holding SHIFT while hit restore and point to custom FW all the time just keep holding SHIFT ?
Now i download Fuzzyband and check my bootloader is 5.9 how bad luck i am ? I did unlock my 3GS with ipad BB and it seems fine, because i dont use GPS, but this 3G is not my phone ( its my friend's phone) is there any way to downgrade back to BB 5.12.xx ? and unlock it ?Thank You and sorry for my bad english
