Downgrading iPhone 3Gs iOS 4.2 to 4.1

I'm trying to jailbreak my phone from jailbreakme.com but I have the newer version (4.2) and I want to downgrade but don't know how. The phone has been completely restored so I have no baseband (whatever that is) or Cydia. I have absolutely no program on it. I just updated the latest version and that's all. Please help me someone, I've been at this for 2 days now.

You can't downgrade unless you have your 4.1 SHSH blobs saved. Wait about a week and you can use greenpois0n rc5 when it comes out.

Yes, you can only downgrade if you have 4.1 blob saved with cydia or locally, otherwise you can't

Hi.i downloaded tinyumbrella and it said that i have shsh blobs saved for 3.1 up to 4.1.i then downloaded the firmware for 4.1 to downgrade my 3gs(on new bootrom)but when i shift restore i cant find the firmware on my computer??what am i doing wrong?

Why impossible, run tiny latest tiny umbrella, plug your bootable iphone and click save shsh.
You will see 3.1 shsh all the way to present which is 4.2.1. ( If that is what you claim to have )
How can you be having new bootrom, i can tell you have the old bootrom.
All iphone OTB with 3.1 has old bootrom
After all the shsh blobs have been downloaded onto TU, start Tss Server.
Put iphone into dfu mode
Run itunes : shift + restore to fw ( xxx.ipsw )
Your firmware must have extension (.ipsw )
IE browser will make it into .zip, so just rename only the extension from .zip to .ipsw.
It is as easy as ABC

How do you change the extension from zip to ipsw?

just right click on the file, click on rename, back space out the zip and type ipsw and thats it.... when your phone was jailbroken, with cydia open did you click the "make my life easy" if you did then your shsh files are saved.

it's so hard to explain to someone downgrade process especially if they don't do research before they ask and jailbreak is new to him/her. iyeow makes it simple as always =P
