Down grading 3G 4.1 TO 4.0
I have a 3G currently on 4.1 I would like to downgrade it to 4.0 I have saved SHSH in TU iphone 3G 4.0 (8A293) is it possible for me to downgrade to 4.0? Will this also change the base band? I tried to down grade using TSS in TU,I also had the phone in DFU mode holding the power and home buttons (black screen), but when I do a shift restore in itunes I get an error message saying (the iphone "iphone" could not be restord because the firmware file is not compatible. Am I doing something wrong, or is it not possible to do what I am trying to do? Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance,

Are you getting an error message with a number?
And asre you sure you got the right firmware not the 3gs or ip4? You should be able to do it then have TU kick you out of dfu

I am on baseband 05.14.02 also should I be in recovery mode in TU when I try to downgrade, or should I be in DFU mode?

Ok thanks for letting be know, I was hoping that it would downgrade that baseband so I could unlock. I will just have to be patient until the DEV team comes out with the new unlock.
No it is not unlocked, I don't want to go to the ipad baseband.Last edited by Skernie; 12-29-2010 at 07:57 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Yes I know the DEV team does a great job for all of us, and they will get it done as soon as they can. for some reason I edited my last post and added that the phone is not unlocked, I don't know if you saw that.
Thanks for all the info!

Would there be any benefit down grading to 4.0 from 4.1? I am reading that the 4.XX FW slows down the 3G.

I have also read that the DEV team is working on a baseband down grade, if they are able to do this do you think I will be able to downgrade to 3.1.3 FW and take the baseband back to 5.12? with out having the SHSH saved.

If you want to unlock with ipad baseband, my advise is that you must have 4.1 shsh blob, so that you can be at 4.1 firmware and with ipad bb. This is better than going to 4.2.1 with ipad baseband which gives you tons of problems.

I am not ready to take jump to the ipad baseband, I will try to wait it out for the new unlock from the DEV team. This is an extra phone that I want to send to my girl in the Philippines, so the less problems the better.
