Restore Disabled 3GS

My uncle works at a bar and he found an iPhone 3GS and gave it to me and I'm trying to restore it. The problem is, when i turn it on it tells me that it's disabled. So I plug it in and it says I need to enter a password. So I tried putting it in DFU mode and holding down alt and then restore and tried 1st restoring to 3.1.3 and then i tried to restore to 4.0. It won't tell me the serial and it wont even tell me the firmware version. After trying to restore to 3.1.3 it tells me the it's not eligible or something. After trying to restore to 4.1 it told me an unknown error occured (2010).

I'm using a Mac just to let you guys know. I have no intention of jailbreaking at this point also.

Have you updated your itunes to the latest ?

EDIT: I take all this back. Be a nice person and take it to an Apple Store or whatever carrier it belongs to (check the SIM that was likely in the phone). It's obviously not yours, and somebody obviously wants it back.
