You can only downgrade the phone if you have SHSH for a lower firmware. You cannot downgrade the baseband however so cannot unlock until a new unlock is released.

Since you can't unlock anyway, there's no point dropping down your firmware in this instance. As x98car says, just wait for that new unlock....

JB with limerain or greenpoison while your waiting and enjoy your ipod touch.

Please excuse my ignorance, as I too am new at this. If I understand correctly, my 3GS (running 4.1, firmware 05.14.02) cannot be broken or downgraded, YET ... in spite of advertising on "unlock-Apple-iPhone.com". As I purchased the software (and their customer service is non-responsive), does an upgrade appear imminent? Or should I chalk up the purchase to a loss? Thank you.

Thanks for the comment, but this site [www.unlock-apple-iphone.com] directed me to JailbreakMe.com (which, I thought from what I see here, was NOT a scam). Do I misunderstand, or did I not provide the sufficiently correct information?

They provide advice to use exactly the same tools which are free in the public domain. It's the same service you get for free on this forum. Your phone can't be unlocked and if they told you they could then they did scam you.

Maybe one month for an unlock, so not a total loss.

Thank you. I just disputed the cost with my credit card company. Now, I just have to wait until the appropriate tools are available here to accomplish the task.

I purchased my iPhone while working in Saudi Arabia; I want to use it in the U.S. without the roaming and data costs from there. It the correct tools exist, then I will be most pleased.

I didnt mean the unlocks are a scam. I mean the fact that you are paying someone is the scam when all jailbreaks and unlocks are free.

Did you buy the phone from Mobily which is the official iPhone carrier in KSA? If you did, then you should be able to just switch to another simcard as ALL iPhone sold by Mobily are factory unlocked.

4.1 cannot be unlocked at the moment; it can only be jailbroken. So only the official SIM card (AT&T in the USA) will work with the phone.

The next unlock is most likely to be released around the time of 4.2 coming out, so until then, patience is required.

"I can help me out" classic!

Is it a 3G or 3GS? Is it locked to a carrier or just not working after a jailbreak. Did you really run both jb tools on it?
