    firmwares for 3GS start from 3.0 only the 3g has earlier versions

    I know but I'm saying a hack to make iTunes make it believe it's an iPhone 2g or something.
    I don't care I have a 3g old bootrom
    just getting an idea out there

    tethered jailbreak has nothing to do with what firmware version you are running....

    I remember those days , we can flash the baseband while on OS 1.0.2 on 1st generation iPhone
