    Default Downgrading...
ok so ive read through most threads and posts about downgrading.
    i have 2 iphones, both 32gb 3gs.
1 has been successfully jailbroken on 3.1.2, the other i got 2 weeks ago, already on 3.1.3 along with the new modem firmware 5.12.01.
the 1st phones fine, but as for the new one, its locked to the 3 network (Australia) which is cool by me and not looking to unlock it.
as most people refer to jailbreaking a phone meaning UNLOCKING/CYDIA isnt what im really after, im just wondering if i can JUST install cydia/rock on this phone without unlocking the network lock.
ive tried various ways of downgrading the firmware and since this new phones never been jailbroken, is there a way for me to downgrade the phones software and keep the modem firmware the same?
id like to learn more about this.

info on the new phone is
    firmware: 3.1.3 (7E18)
    SN: 86947T....
    model: MC133X
    modem: 05.12.01

    thanks.

The only thing that really matters is that it's a 3GS and that it's on 3.1.3 - that combination means you can't jailbreak.
