Default SHSH with Cydia on file - can't restore anyway
When I run Cydia it says I have my SHSH on file for 3.1 and 3.1.2 but when I try to restore I get the error "device is not el..."

Of course I did modify the hosts file
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

I have also flushed dns and restarted itunes but still the error appears..

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

If you're absolutely sure you have the SHSHs stored on Cydia, you haven't edited the hosts file properly.

Also, try restarting your computer after you've edited it.

You can test if you've done it properly by opening up a command prompt and typing:

    ping gs.apple.com

The response should come from the IP you put into the hosts file.

Same exact issue here. I put the SHSH on the cydia server on 3.1.2 then I wanted to restore default 3.1.2 for particular reason but got the invalid version eligibility etc..

Now I tried the get the SHSH info from cydia and nothing.
I know 100% was on file.
Did the make My life easier...

Any ideas.... I'm stuck with a phone in recovery mode and I cant make it boot. blackrain no go either.. Just his photo sits forever on the iphone screen, no boot.

    WTH?

if you didn't hit the "make my life easier" button before February 2nd or 3rd then you only shsh's on file for 3.1.3 since that is when apple stopped signing 3.1.2...

Ah...To think all this started when I tried to restore an official 3.1.2 to "unjailbreak" the phone back to original.
    Phone was 3.1.2 already.

Will I be able to fix this? no way to boot the phone as it was before with blackrain starter...

Update to custom 3.1.2 fails also...

if using custom firmware fails you probably have the new iBoot phone and they do not accept custom firmware...

I have a JB 3.1.2 fw iPhone (JB BlackRa1n; new iBoot, 3GS; sadly stuck in the BlackRa1n recovery loop after doing a Reset Network Settings). I know (via Umbrella) that 3.1.3 fw is stored on Cydia.

If custom firmware is not possible, is my only choice to restore to 3.1.3 via Cydia restore? Presumably the restore is to official Apple 3.1.3 fw, ie the 3.1.3 restoration will block any attempt to JB?

    Cheers for any replies!

you have the new iBoot so custom firmwares are out of the question...you can try reading some of the other threads here about blackra1n bootloop fixes..if none of those resolve your problem and you have to restore it will have to be to 3.1.3 because you do not have 3.1.2 shsh's saved on cydia

Hey, thanks for the reply. I have tried most (if not all) of the ways to kick out of the BlackRain loop, but to no avail. So, to confirm: once I have restored to 3.1.3, the upgrade to 3.1.3 will block any further JB on the iPhone (at least until a new JB solution for 3.1.3 is released)?
