Default Need a restore... Am I screwed?

ok so I was using my iphone 3gs with 3.1.2 today and I was downloading a custom theme in cydia when all of a sudden, my iphone froze and I had to turn it off... I have a tethered blackra1n jailbreak. When I came home, I plugged in my iphone to run the application, and my iphone still does not boot. It is stuck at the loading screen for the jailbreak (the one with the picture of the iphones and that kid's head). I can't restore to 3.1.2 because apple won't accept it... what can I do? I actually need my phone, but I don't want to update if I'm never going to have cydia or jailbreaking capabilities ever again :/.

    EDIT:

if I don't run blackra1n, I get the "plug into itunes" screen until the iphone shuts off.

Download iREB from here : iH8sn0w.com | Jailbreak your iPod touches and iPhones

then install LibUSB it should be in the .zip file along with iReb 3.1.2 then at after you install and have LibUSB running open iReb and at the bottem of the iReb program there should be a button saying something like " Recovery Mode Loop" press it and wait until your phone is out of recovery mode. It should only take seconds, if it doesent work I do not know what you can do, I updated my iPhone because i had the same problem accept mines was stuck on the apple logo cycle everytime I turned it on. So I updated and now i got a *** stock iPhone. What ever you do dont unpgrade, just wait untill you know what to do.

alas, it didn't work. I was still stuck at the screen. It's such a sacrifice inside though... If I don't update, I won't have a working phone for god knows how long, but if I update, I'm going to lose my jailbreak forever.
Is there any other option left for me? Or am I permanently stuck with a crippled piece of ****?

u don't have any option if u have not saved your ecid-shsh at cydia and cant restore to 3.1.2. only option left is use quickpawned/snowbreezed custom 3.1.3 firmware. it will retain you baseband and wait til any unlocking tool is available to unlock , till then use it as ipod touch only.

oh, i don't care about unlocking it... I just want to keep it jailbroken, but I did my homework and apparently, snowbreeze works for the older model of the 3gs... unluckily for me, I have the newer bootrom... If I had known how to back up my ecid-shsh, i would have done it... I guess this iphone's days of freedom are done.

i had same problem i am not sure if i have new boot, my serial is 799392CC3NP AND MODEL MC131B. i was stuck at recover mode and nothing worked e.g ireb , irecovery etc.what i did will explain

    1. download redsnow 0.94
    2. jailbreak it in recovery mode( Complete the process) phone will not come out out of this mode even after process.
    3. i used custom snowrbeezed 3.1.3 firmware and upgraded with itune.
    4. it upgraded without any issue.
    5. use as ipod touch wi-fi is working

u can give it a try as u always have the option to use official firmware if any thing goes wrong.
