Downgrade Not Successful - Please help?
My jailbroken phone got corrupted, so I had to restore (and apple forced the upgrade). I now am on 3.1.3 and need help downgrading to 3.1.2. I have a 32GB iPhone 3GS and I just want to jailbreak, I have no interest in unlocking the phone (and I know it can't be done).
I have tried editing the hosts file, and rebooting. Then, I put the device in DFU and and shift+restore to locate the 3.1.2 IPSW file. It says extracting, then verifying - it stays on verifying for a good few minutes, then fails and I get error message 1601.
The tutorial says I should get error message 1015.
Can someone please help?

Tried a different USB port, got the same error. I don't have another cord to use.
Any other ideas?

I have already done that. And yes, the screen is just black (it's in DFU mode).

You can't downgrade to 3.1.2 cos Apple have stopped signing 3.1.2 firmware.
You can only downgrade to 3.1.2 if your phone was previously jailbroken and your SHSH details are on file with Cydia. In that case, you would need to edit your /etc/hosts file so the firmware is verified by saurik's server (and not Apple's server) when you click 'Restore' in iTunes.

How do I know if Cydia backed up my information? Is there any way to find out?
