Have 3.0.1 3GS wanting to restore to 3.0.1 to fix camera bug and still keep tethering
So, my camera is doing what it usually does every month or two (with both 1G and 3GS phones): either never opens the shutter, and/or doesn't display pics in the gallery (but still uploads them to iPhoto just fine).
Normally, I just restore the phone, and *presto!* no problem. But now I don't want to "upgrade to the latest version 3.1 automatically" when restoring, as I want to still use benm's simple tether hack. (Also got the whole "The iPhone could not restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build" message while trying to option+restore on 3.0.1. That's what sent my Google'ing to Saurik's piece).
I just read Saurik's "Catching Apple's Sig Server" article, which I understood about half. I think I understand the principles, but as to whether my iPhone is somehow listed on his server or not (?), and what file exactly on my iMac I'm supposed to amend so I can "Bypass The Overlord," I'm really at a loss (but eager to learn). I get lost on the definitions of all the SHSHiBSSRoot's...
I just want my library to work again, and I don't want to update to 3.1 so I can still tether. That's all I know. Anyone willing to work with a true newbie, I'm all yours.
