This isn't working for me... I'm on a Mac OSX (Leopard) and I got my ECID using System Profiler just fine. I can't get the shsh file though.

I downloaded Umbrella and open Umbrella.jar. I enter in my ECID (20 alphanumerics and the ":01" at the end), ask to go through Cydia, which says I have a 3.0 ECID SHSH on file and click submit --> nothing happens! The bottom reads "status" for a while and no file ever shows up. I've waited as long as 10 minutes for it to retrieve the file. Any help?? Thanks!!

Thanks for the tip. I was reading it wrong... so I have the 16 alphanumerics but then it reads at the bottom "Could not get ECID SHSH for the model/version: sorry." But when I open Cydia it clearly says at the top "This device has a 3.0 ECID SHSH on file". I'm on 3.0.1 fw now but neither option works.... more suggestions??

You need to use the Apple SHSH repository and not cydia to get a copy down to your computer.

If you want the 3.0 shsh file then target cydia and select device version 3gs 3.0 and it should fetch the file down

It is too late to get your 3.0.1 because Apple isnt signing it anymore.

yeah that's what i'm doing but it says no file... is it just not there at Cydia? I'm fine with a 3.0 SHSH backup file....

EDIT: I got my file... the walthrough says to run Umbrella.jar but the text file with the download says to run the .dmg on Macs and move the file to desktop and run it that way. Worked for me.... sorry for being a doof.

i did everything to the letter but each time i tried to restore in itunes either in DFU or recovery mode, it keeps saying "the iphone cannot be restored at this time because the iphone software update server cannot be contacted or is temporarily unavailable." error

i did this at 5pm, 10pm and now, which is 5am...

    any ideas?

Default A file ending in ".shsh" should appear in the folder but it's not.

A file ending in ".shsh" should appear in the folder after using your Part 2 - Getting your ECID SHSH until step 5. I could get SHSH but no file was generated,

    Please advice.

    Thank you

smohpal << I got the same problem just wondering if we need to mod the host file for just getting these SHSH

Not sure what your issue is. I just ran Umbrella without a modified hosts file, and I was able to get 3.1.2 from *both* Apple & Saurik - Cydia, 3.1 from *both* Apple & Saurik - Cydia, and 3.0 from *only* Saurik - Cydia. I don't have 3.0.1 blobs anywhere, so I can't get those.

In a nutshell...Make sure you are using the correct firmware version (most likely 3.1 & 3.1.2) and requesting from either Apple or Saurik - Cydia.

    Files generated

    552609005045-iphone-3.0.shsh (Saurik - Cydia)
    552609005045-iphone-3.1.shsh (Apple)
552609005045-iphone-3.1.shsh.0.bak (Saurik - Cydia) 0.bak because the shsh already existed on my desktop
    552609005045-iphone-3.1.2.shsh (Apple)
552609005045-iphone-3.1.2.shsh.0.bak (Saurik - Cydia) 0.bak because the shsh already existed on my desktop

YAY I got it Finally it worked got it from apple and Cydia

    Great thread!
One quick question I backup my ECID with cydia
I was and still am on 3.0 but when opening cydia
I get "This device has a 3.1 ECID SHSH on file"
does that mean I can't restore to 3.0?

  12. #472
Looi3: so does that mean i can skip that whole second part and just try too restore to 3.0 do i have to use tiny

  13. #473
If we're trying to get the ECID SHSH from a jailbroken 3.0 firmware, is this not possible anymore? I'm getting the "Could not get your ECID SHSH for that model/version: sorry." error ....

  14. #474
Default Thanks but I dont see generated files in any folder

Still not sure what's wrong. The .shsh file should be generated in the same folder you opened umbrella.exe like this

    Before running umbrella.exe

    After running umbrella.exe

Default Thank you but no files

    After running umbrella.exe
As you mentioned to save fw-umbrella-semaphore-216.zip on desktop, I did so and then opened umbrella.exe and it only showed the result at bottom as SHSH Saved File: 4082133431797-iphone-3.1.2-shsh but no file was generated as you have shown.

What might be causing problem not to generate these files on my folder/system? Its really very irritating.

    Thank you.

Thank god. This time the file was saved.

Actually I had downloaded zip file and opened umbrella.exe in same folder and was trying to generate the file which did not happen.

This time I copied only umbrella.exe & pasted it to my desktop and tried to generate the file and voila this time I got it.

Thank you for your patience and effort.

i have done everything but i am lost at this point (using MAC)

    3) Important! Disable any other servers using port 80 (usually webservers). TinyTSS needs to use it to create it's mini-webserver.

how can i verify this is like it should?

i do step 4 and i got this but never closes? how can i do the next steps? i :
