You updated to 3.1 There is no using a non at&t SIM now if you are in the US. There is no unlock solution yet for the baseband that was included in the 3.1 ipsw. Sorry.

He is right. Your baseband was updated and ATM there no unlock for it, Im sorry. Watch the dev-team blog and Sauriks twitter tho. Idk what, but SOMETHING is coming (may be unlock, just jb) but ik something is coming.

I've restored several times, once with Quickpwn after the 1015 error then used redsnow 0.8... jailbreak succesful but no service. Then I didn it without quickpwn, still jailbroke the device but no service. I'm using AT&T... what gives. I have tried connecting to itunes even... still the same issue.

you have to DFU restore atleast twice, then see if you get service.

I did that the first time, DFU'd exactly 2 times than did a straight jailbreak with redsn0w, I did not however to the true boot with quickpwn? Maybe that's why?

Kinda strange however because the redsn0w still was able to jailbreak and start phone without the quickpwn trueboot.

Maybe I should try Purplera1n?

eh try this:

DFU (so theres no connec to itunes picture) restore twice.

then, use quick pwn to boot normally.

once you are booted, see if you ger service, if not then try again, this time insteqd of quickpwn try purplera1n.

Dear bondkt, I don't understand what you mean by downgrade to 3.0 then downgrade to 3.0 again?
Here is my problem, I purchase an ATT Iphone from someone and it's my 1st time using it. It was version 3.1 so i downgrade to 3.0 and get the 1015 error. I followed your step and close itune when that happen so launch quickpwn but after I get the 1015 error, my gets out of the DFU mode(showing the Connect to USB on screen). So I just follow wha tyou said anyway and hold power and home for 15 sec then hold power 2 sec then OK when Apple logo turn on. JB with redsnow but still I'm getting no signal with my Verizon Sim card! please help~!

If you upgraded to 3.1 without a custom firmware, you lost your ability to unlock =/. Yoi have to now wait and hope yhey fimd an unlock for 3.1.

Oh my god REALLY! MY phone was already at 3.1 when I purchased it. I thought downgrading to 3.0 was so that it will let u unlock and jailbreak.

well there is not unlock for 3.1 yet, and since even after you downgrade to 3.0 from 3.1 your baseband was upgraded to 3.1 and was not unlockable, thus even if youdowngrade your baseband doesnt change.

EX: on 3.0 with 6.0 baseband. upgrade to 3.1 with 7.0 baseband. go back to 3.0 to unlock, but my baseband is still 7.0, so the 6.0 method doesn't work.

Hi,
I am having a 3gs with 3.1
My phone had 3.0 jailbroken and everything worked fine. after making a stupid thing...I had to upgrade to 3.1 without unfortunately keep ECID or anything from 3.0. do you know whether or not I can jailbreak again my iphone now with PwnageTool 3.1.3?thank you in advance for your response.already made an attempt to rstore a .ipsw image and I couldn't. currently my iphone has been restored again to 3.1 :-( If there is any way at all to pm me a solution(if you have any)it would be gr8.
Before the second restore to 3.1 I had icons of some JB apps which I had installed in the past on 3.0(of course they did not run but they were existed on my iphone screen). now I don't have this as well

Since you upgraded to 3.1 without have cydia keep your ECID, you wont be able yo downgrade. BUT if yoh wAnt cydia to keep your 3.1 ECID ( you should ) you should change your host as said in Sauriks blog, then restore, set up as new phone, then DFU restore ( only after you have edited your host file).

if yoh do that, cydia will atleast have your 3.1 ECID. ( better then nothing )

I have a question If i follow this method I was originally on 3.0.1 jailbroken and I downloaded this app and my phone would turn on the apple screen would pop up then it would turn off so I had to restore to 3.1(official apple software) So Im hearing alot of people say if they do this method they loose their phone service Im with atnt. And if this happens to me How would I get the service back? and Are you supposed to jailbreak with purple rain or redsnow im very confused?? Any help would be great thank you. Also I had the ECID 3.0 Stored on cydia at the time and I did the whole host thing saurik said

well ita not really a question of loosing service, they just loose the logo, no biggie. unles your a mac and or have a mac friend and you want a jailbreak, and you have a ecid on cydia for 3p
.0, then restore it back to 3.0 then get error 1015 in itunes then follow the guide on the first post

I have a windows pc so I dont know what to do. I heard that Geohart or whatever his name is commin out with a jailbreak for 3.1 in a couple of days dont know if that bs or not i just want my phone the way it was. And the phone service thing I mean is what happens if itunes doesnt activate my phone after the downgrade what do I do ???

there are links to download the 3.0 fw (not modified or anything) on the first post at rhe bottom from
iclairfied. download 3.0, restore to 3.0 via shift clicking restore. then youll get error 1015. after that follow the instrutions on the first post

alright buddy so your sure if I do this my phone will be activated and work bc i would be really screwed I read ur instructions to download that quickpwn thing and jailbreak with redsnow if this works your the man
