I modified my host file with theCode:
I rebooted for good measure and fired up Itunes 8.2 and checked the sync info page and it's still show a 3.1 update available.
Should this change or not?
I'm still on 3.0.1 and not changing anything DEV says it's cool.
BTW Cydia is showing my files on file are 3.0.1 OS for my 3GS.
We fully recommend redirecting your iTunes signing process through saurik’s “on file” server to future-proof your 3GS jailbreak through all future updates.

Do a ping to gs.apple.com
if the replay is: Everthing is allright
PING gs.apple.com (126.96.36.199): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 188.8.131.52: icmp_seq=0 ttl=55 time=150.472 ms
If the output is: there is no redirect to Sauriks Server.
PING gs.apple.com.akadns.net (184.108.40.206): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 220.127.116.11: icmp_seq=0 ttl=245 time=194.775 ms

Is there a way to know if your ECID is registered with Saurik's database or how do you get the iPhone registered with Saurik's database? I am still on 3.0.1 with a iPhone 3GS (never updated), I edited my hosts file, and I can ping gs.apple.com If you do a backup or sync (which does a backup) with iTunes 9.0 will this register your ECID? Thanks for the help!
