Our staff have used a variety of different accessories for our Apple devices this year – for both iOS devices and Macs. Not all of our staff use accessories, but for those that do, we're going to share what we like using the most. Feel free to use our advice for holiday shopping ideas!

    Akshay Masand

Akshay Masand only uses one accessory for his iPhone 4S.

When it comes to keeping his iPhone 4S alive all day long, Akshay puts his trust in the Mophie Juice Pack Plus. It's an iPhone case with a built-in battery pack that can be used to add even more hours to your stock iPhone battery. It serves double-duty, not only keeping the device alive longer, but also being protective and stock resistant at the same time.

Since Akshay is always out and about, he feels that without the Mophie Juice Pack Plus, his iPhone would very likely be dead at times of need. Because of this, he recommends the spare battery case to anyone in a similar situation that needs extra battery power and can't always sit around waiting for their iPhones to charge.

Mophie's Juice Pack Plus retails for $99.95.

    Anthony Bouchard

Anthony Bouchard uses accessories for his iOS devices and his Mac.

For his iPhone 5, Anthony uses the Frequency snap-on case from Incipio because it offers decent drop protection and scratch protection, all while continuing to look good and have a slim form-factor. The back of the case has a neat design that simulates the volume bars ...

One of the most horrific experiences in iOS ever has to be going through your contacts and removing ones that you don’t need anymore. iOS requires that you go into the individual contact cards and scroll all the way down to find a delete button. It’s a very cumbersome, one-at-a-time process, and it’s just way too annoying.

A new jailbreak tweak dubbed Delete Contact by iOS development firm Expin Systems makes deleting contact cards the way it should be – Easy and iOS-like!

First of all, you’ll now be able to ...

A new jailbreak tweak in Cydia dubbed Binary Clock by iOS developer FoolishSleuth is now available that allows you to replace the digital clock on the lock screen with a binary clock. Above is a screenshot comparison of the two types of clocks.

One thing is for sure. Unless you have a keen eye for reading binary clocks, being able to tell the time might take some… well… time. There is a nice guide on reading binary clocks at this link. Regardless, the true geeks out there will want to grab this tweak and install ...

Notification is a nice place to get some quick information about the Weather, Stocks, and your notifications (even Tweet and post to Facebook if you’re on iOS 6), however Apple could have made the effect of opening and closing Notification Center just a little bit more visually appealing to the user’s eyes.

Instead of merely dragging a sheet over your home screen, a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed Fade by iOS developer SuperDev will ...

The night Google Maps finally showed up in the iOS App Store, bringing a Google Maps application to iOS for the first time since iOS 5.1.1, users immediately wanted a way to make the Google Maps application the default mapping solution for their iOS devices. A new jailbreak tweak is available in Cydia today for free that will do this for you.

Dubbed MapsOpener by iOS development team HASHBANG Productions, the tweak can be used to make ...

    * clink *

That's the sound of my iPad hitting my coupe glass while I'm making this Corpse Reviver #2, a Prohibition era cocktail with Absinthe, gin, and Lillet Blanc.

I'm checking out 25 Classic Cocktails Volume 1, by All Sorts Media (disclaimer - I know the guys who made this), a new enhanced iBook which was just released. It is a media-rich tip of the hat to 25 of the best cocktails to come out of the 20s, 30s, and 40s, including videos, brief histories, ...

Brightness is something that most of us can agree is an important feature of any iOS device. Most of us like to have easy access to it; unfortunately, Apple makes us go digging into our settings to change it each time we need to adjust how bright our display is. A new free jailbreak tweak dubbed BrightVol by HASHBANG Productions makes it easy to adjust your brightness from anywhere.

Instead of adding any unnecessary interfaces to iOS, BrightVol uses a feature ...

For those of you that rely on Apple’s Mail application on iOS instead of some third party alternative, a new jailbreak tweak dubbed Attachments+ for Mail by iOS developer lordscotland makes the Mail application a lot more useful by giving it better file handling.

Attachments+ for Mail gives the user the ability to attach files from their file system, or from their Camera Roll, directly from the E-mail composition screen itself. It supports just about every kind of file you can think of. When composing an E-mail message, users will find two new buttons in the Action Menu when they hold ...

Back in September we previewed a tweak called PowerOptionsPro by iOS developer FreeApple. The tweak allows you to replace the rather limited 'slide to power off' menu with a menu that can do much more than just power the device off.

PowerOptionsPro is now available in the Cydia Store for 99¢. You will notice that the tweak has been slightly adjusted since the preview version. For example, the UI looks just a little different, and there are much more options to configure. We will take you through the changes.

    The first ...
