There's been great debate whether an iPhone can be considered a 'serious photography' tool. If you come down on the side against, go talk to K-Tek - hopeful makers of the Quarter20 Aluminum Tripod Mount Case (Kickstarter Campaign until 9-17-2012) - they'll probably change your mind!

The iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 have amazing 8-megapixel cameras in an extremely portable package, but in order to use them for anything more serious than family snapshots, you need a tripod mount and a strong protective case.

K-Tek has stepped out into the market with lots of experience manufacturing audio and camera accessories. They sent us a prototype Quarter20 case for the iPhone 4/4S and it's nothing short of solid, industrial-strength design.

Cover Flow can sometimes be an annoying part of listening to Music when you’re using your iPhone or iPod because if you just tilt the device just a little bit (such as when laying down), you’re suddenly in an interface you may not have intended to be in. If you’re not one to enjoy having Cover Flow as a method of listening to music on your iPhone or iPod, then there’s a new free jailbreak tweak in Cydia today called NoCoverFlow by iOS hacker and developer Ryan Petrich ...

Sometimes the silent switch on the side of the iPhone gets turned onto silent by mistake. Whether some unknown force from inside of your pocket does it, or you just accidently do it yourself, silent mode can cause you to miss important calls if you can’t hear your ringtone. A new tweak called Smart Ringer by iOS developer dmarinov aims to prevent this issue.

After you install Smart Ringer, you will get the above alert every ...

If you like customizing the look of iOS, another free tweak has just surfaced in Cydia today called Quantum, by iOS developer Sirifl0w. The tweak brings customization to the iOS 5 notification banners, allowing you to change the font of both the message content and the title from within the banners. Above is a screenshot example of what it would look like to have the font changed with Quantum.

It’s obviously a very minor change to iOS as a whole, ...

Let's take a look at a sweet pair of audio cans, Bowers & Wilkins' P3 headphones. We took a look at the P3's big brother, the P5's, a while back.

    Company

We mentioned in the P5 review - Bowers & Wilkins, or B&W as they're generally referred to, have been around since 1966 making high-end audio equipment. Back then, it was John Bowers and his buddy Roy Wilkins, handcrafting speakers in the back of an electronics shop. They're a British company, based in Worthing, England (West Sussex) - and really, if you aren't already familiar with B&W, you probably aren't an audio enthusiast.

    In the Box

If Apple's packaging is day, Bowers & Wilkins packaging is night. Clean, ...

In Cydia’s ModMyi repository right now is a free jailbreak tweak called PowerOptions. It makes the power menu even more intuitive by adding more features.

Coming in the near future is a paid version of the tweak – PowerOptionsPro that adds the same functionality as PowerOptions; however, it will include even more functionality than the free counterpart. The tweak is made by the same developer, known as FreeApple.

Shown above is the PowerOptionsPro interface. The PowerOptionsPro ...

iOS 5 shipped with a private browsing feature for Mobile Safari, which allows you to keep Mobile Safari from holding a history of your Web sites, searches, and more. The feature is enabled from the Safari preferences pane in the Settings application, however some iOS developers felt that this was too much of a pain and have created a new way to toggle the feature right from Mobile Safari.

The tweak, called Privata by iOS developers Rudolf Lichtner ...

If you recall, iMessage has the ability to show you when the recipient reads your messages. This all depends on your recipient allowing you to view their read receipts – this feature is easily enabled from the Messages preferences pane in the Settings application. One major issue with the read receipts is that you can only view the most recent read receipt and no others after the newest read receipt is displayed.

Brightness is one thing that we often like to adjust depending on our surrounding conditions. For some reason, Apple thought it would be best to hide brightness deep within the Settings application, however volume is easily adjustable from two locations – the multitasking App Switcher and the volume buttons – so why not share one of these locations with brightness?

Screenshot left: Before – Screenshot right: After

If you send a lot of pictures via e-mail, MMS, or iMessage, you might find that the large file sizes can cause the messages to take a while to send. This is because it takes a while for those large files to get uploaded to the servers you’re sending them to. Luckily, there is a new free jailbreak tweak available in Cydia today called Small4MMS by iOS developer iOSHack and it allows you to compress ...
