Reports surfaced Monday that Apple stores may open as much as one hour earlier than usual on Tuesday to accommodate shoppers who haven't yet been able to purchase the presently sold-out iPad 2. The iPad 2, released on Friday, apparently sold out of every store in the United States by Saturday. That's what Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster learned from a survey he did of retailers across the country this weekend, and what's being confirmed by Deutsche Bank analysts this morning. Munster estimates something between 400,000 and 500,000 iPad 2s were sold this weekend, as compared to 300,000 ...

One of the biggest rumors being thrown around for next generation iDevices, particularly the iPhone 5 is that Apple is planning adding Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, which would allow iPhone users to shop and pay at retail locations using their phone, without the need for cash or card. According to new reports however, this technology has been scrapped, at least for the iPhone 5.

Daylight Savings Time has struck again. On Sunday, many iPhone users started complaining about their iDevice botching the time change. Rather than pushing the iPhone clock one-hour forward, a lot of iPhones went the other direction - that is, setting clocks back an hour instead. By Sunday morning there was a large but unknown number of iPhone users two hours behind schedule according ...

Once again comex has pushed out a jailbreak for a new device - this time within 2 days of the product launch. chpwn (who's been doing a lot of work on many UI updates to Cydia lately, and writes a host of popular tweaks in Cydia) tweeted a photo of Cydia running on a white iPad 2 just minutes ago.

    After retweeting, comex posted:

Apple has begun taking donations through iTunes, to help the victims of the devastating 8.9 magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami that hit Japan on Friday. 100% of the donations will go directly to the American Red Cross and Apple is waiving its usual 30% fee. Apple is accepting donations through the iTunes store in various denominations ranging from $5-$200. Unfortunately, you can't use iTunes store credit ...

Performance benchmarks run on the iPad 2 underscore what new tablet owners have seen for themselves: Apple wasn't exaggerating when they claimed that the second-generation tablet device is twice as fast is its predecessor. Tests done using common performance tools have shown improvement across the board, with floating point operations many times faster than the original iPad. While we won't know for sure ...

On Friday, Nick reported that Apple had begun estimating deliveries for the first batch of online iPad 2 purchases to take place between March 18th-March 25th. Consumers, however, have since started reporting much faster delivery estimates are coming from AT&T, although it isn't clear just how widespread those estimates are. Several customers we've heard from say that they placed ...

From the experiences of the MMi crew to feedback from our vast readership, there was no shortage of tangible consumer interest in the iPad 2 upon its launch yesterday. As illustrated by long lines and prompt depletion of inventory, it appears the iPad 2 is the hot commodity everyone expected it to be. On Friday evening at 7:30, even MuscleNerd tweeted: "Wow here at 1000 Oaks Apple ...
