Proving once again that WWDC does, in fact, last beyond the excitement and hype of the annual conference's opening keynote address, last night in San Francisco, as the 2011 WWDC winds to a close, Apple held its yearly Apple Design Awards ceremony. Per longstanding tradition, the Cupertino tech giant took time to honor a dozen applications for excellence in design, innovation, and technology.

    All told, ...

Just one day after unveiling a slew of new software at Apple’s WWDC, Steve Jobs met with the City Council of Cupertino to discuss plans for a new Apple campus. The proposed building will relocate some 12,000 employees that currently work in various locations scattered around Cupertino and bring them all together under one roof.

Steve states, “It's a pretty amazing building. It's a little like a spaceship landed, but there it is. And it's got ...

Sources for TUAW say that they may have found possible hints of two iPad 3 and iPhone 5 models within the iOS 5 framework. Found in the USB device files in an unreleased iOS 5, the information found gives credible evidence to the above statement. However, no hints on a possible iPod Touch 5 have been found.

There are declarations in the system files found that reference an "iPad 3,1" and an "iPad 3,2." ...

A recent report from AllThingsD stated that from March of this year until now (June), the amount of carriers across the globe that have the iPhone has jumped from 186 to 200 carriers. In light of WWDC this week and the expected release of the iPhone 5, this is a bold step on Apple's part to continue expanding the iPhone worldwide.

Goldman Sachs analyst Bill Shope in the article quotes this ...

For iPhone modders with expensive tastes, this nifty little creation from Gresso may be right up your alley - that is, of course, if you have $6,000 to blow when every free clock app in existence can pretty much provide the same functionality and then some. Still, if you like the ornate look of an iPhone 4 with six expensive watches embedded in its back, this is the iDevice for you.

    If ...

The first question that popped into my head after it was revealed that Lion would be a download only upgrade was "what if I need a boot disk?"

I've had too many hard drives crash, and had to reinstall too many operating systems to do without a physical boot disk. Plus I've never been one to tote around an external bootable hard drive. Thankfully creating a Lion boot disk is quite painless.

Although many rumors and unanswered questions remain regarding the next generation iPhone (including its name and release date), it's a safe assumption - based on the vast array of corroborating reports we've heard - that the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 will sport an 8MP camera.

What we can't get a straight answer on, however, is the supplier of the 8MP camera sensor that will deliver the best camera to ...

If it seems that every new gadget that comes down the pike is eventually referred to as a "rival" to one or more iDevices, you're not alone in that estimation. This week, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, Sony hyped its next-generation gaming device - the PlayStation Vita - which will turn up in the US before the end of 2011.

Clearly, some are calling it a competitor ...

The Financial Times is sticking it to Apple and releasing their HTML 5 web app to circumvent Apple's 30 percent cut of in-app subscriptions.

    Good for them.

Steve Jobs and Apple's touting of HTML 5 as the future of the interwebs could come back to haunt them as HTML 5 and cloud computing matures. The browser app is already incredibly functional on both the iPhone and iPad and will be just as functional on other mobile browsing platforms ...

GSM iPhone owners (AT&T, and pretty much everyone else in the world) are currently enjoying the beta version of iCloud running on their iPhones. Verizon users, not so much.

In order to utilize the cloud based iTunes functions iPhone users need to have iOS version 4.3.3. Verizon iPhone users are stuck in a 4.2.8 nightmare. The reasons for Verizon iPhones lagging behind AT&T ...

About two hours ago, MuscleNerd (@MuscleNerd), a prominent developer and hacker for the iDevice, has confirmed that iOS 5 (Beta 1) is jailbreakable. The picture above shows MuscleNerd's iPod running Cydia. According to him, the jailbreak was done in conjunction with the limera1n exploit and a tethered boot. He mentioned that the boot rom exploit has not been patched and will work on iOS 5 ...
